Applications

Commercial installations include draperies, circuit boxes, thermostats, communication cabling, fire and burglar alarm systems, bath and kitchen, and most overhead installations. With the EZ-T these installations are fast, easy—and most importantly—secure.  Leave the EZ-Ts in your tool box and you’ll discover a myriad of different uses.

Accolades from The Family Handyman, the home improvement authority:

“What makes the EZ-T different from most (fasteners) is that it doesn’t use an insert and there’s no need for an oversized hole.  You just drill a hole the size of the shank, fold down the “T”, pop it in, tighten the nut, and snip the excess.  EZ-T also works on concrete block and hollow core doors.”

Dupont

Accolades from Dupont:

“Easy use - Thanks to the fold down feature, the user can drill a hole and push in the fastener while holding the object in place.”

“.. the cross piece springs back toward the perpendicular to become a pullout-resistant anchor. After tightening down a nut, the user simply cuts away the excess bolt shaft”.

“Benefits Gained – Easy use, less wall damage, secure mounts”

“...provides the balance of strength, toughness, controlled flexibility and molecular memory required for this application.”

This Old House

Accolades from This Old House:

"This toggle anchor does the least damage to the wall, requiring a hole just large enough to insert a slender nylon stem."

Using the EZ-T™

  1. Position the object to be installed and drill the hole the same diameter as the EZ-T.
  2. Fold the EZ-T cross piece and insert until the cross piece opens.
  3. Pull to set the cross piece and hand tighten the nut - no tools are required. Firm hand tightening provides the proper torque required to bow the flexible cross piece inward on the back side of the mounting surface which then acts as a lock washer for a strong secure fit.
  4. Trim the excess from the EZ-T shaft.

Selecting the Right EZ-T™

The EZ-T requires only a ½” clearance on the blind side of the mounting surface and adapts to any mounting surface thickness from 1/8” to 2 1/2" using a 3" EZ-T or 1/8” to 1 1/2” with the 2" EZ-T.

  • 10-24  x 3/16" x 2” - shear strength* of 90 lbs. and pullout strength* of 40 lbs.
  • 1/4-20  x 1/4" x 3” - shear strength* of 150 lbs. and pullout strength* of 90 lbs.

Attaching to Solids

Drill the hole the same diameter as the EZ-T. The hole depth should be at least 1.5 times the length of the crosspiece to take full advantage of the expansion capability of the folding T-bar. Tap the EZ-T into the hole to its full depth, hand tighten the nut and trim the excess.

For added strength, any adhesive that will adhere to the solid can be placed in the hole before inserting the EZ-T. The glue will harden to form a mold and add greater strength to the holding capacity of the EZ-T.

Wall Tile

EZ-Ts are excellent for mounting anything to a tile surface.  Unlike most wall anchors and toggle bolts the EZ-T is mounted through the tile not into the tile. Any pressure on the mounted item is directed toward the back of the surface mount material not the tile. In this application the EZ-T functions similar to a molly bolt but without the large hole in the tile or the mounting surface and the EZ-T, unlike a metal fastener, is non corrosive.
